My son has a new rifle and he is very disappointed with it. I wasn't with him, but he says it hits all over the place a foot left with iron sights and no more room for adjustment at 80yrds.
I did tell him to at least try165gr bullet before he gives up on it.
If that doesn't work what are some other thoughts?
PS. He knows how to handle an AR accurately.

Loose barrel nut, barrel extension, hand guard, flash hider, or iron sights? Bolt lugs look ok? Defective ammo? Does he have a bipod installed with hardware contacting the barrel?

If everything is dialed mechanically I'd send it back to Springfield. From a little reading online it sounds like others have experienced similar issues with the same rifle as your son.

Absolutely the correct thing to do.
1. Call on phone
2. Get Maintenance/RMA number, shipping label.
3. Package rifle with no ammo or glass or anything non-Ruger, justlike the instructions say.
4. Drop it off immediately.

What weight is he trying to shoot?
