Are you missing you some salt water????Goggle eye.
I was just digging up this post to say this exact thing. I've been reading where hybrids of the two are very common and I think this is the most likely situation.probably, females. the dorsal heigth looks more warmouth. the first pic looks more green sunfish. maybe a hybrid since green sunfish will mate with just about anything.
No. Never fished salt water. Where I grew up in west TN everybody calls warmouth goggle eye. I know the proper name is warmouth, but I've heard them called goggle eye all my life. Apparently @gasman was raised the same way.Are you missing you some salt water????
Texas Parks and Wildlife lists warmouth as called goggle-eye as well.No. Never fished salt water. Where I grew up in west TN everybody calls warmouth goggle eye. I know the proper name is warmouth, but I've heard them called goggle eye all my life. Apparently @gasman was raised the same way.
So it's not just us west TN folks.Texas Parks and Wildlife lists warmouth as called goggle-eye as well.
its possible. in those dark phenotypes like that the only sure fire way to tell the difference is that a warmouth will have a definate tongue toothpatch that you can see and feel but the green sunfish and wargreen will not.I was just digging up this post to say this exact thing.
