How far does the sabot usually travel at the shot. Yesterday I shot a doe at 50-60 yards and when I cleaned her I dug out a piece of the sabot. That's a little unusual I think.

I usually pick mine up between 20-40 yds. depending on the sabot I'm shooting.
I was at the rifle club yesterday, shooting my MZ at 50 & 100 yds.
Lots of MZ guys sighting in this past week, lots of sabots down range.
Found em from 10- 60 yards, most between 20-40, but still enough past 50 to make me pay attention and investigate.
I would think the tighter the fit in the barrel the longer it would take to separate.

Fwiw, lots more black and yellow ones 20-40, the blue ones carried further it seemed.

It's tight. Even running a spit patch between shots I'm almost afraid I'm going to break my ramrod.
