When I bought my AR I also bought a Red/Green dot scope to mount on it. It works fine for target shooting. I was just wondering how a Red/Green dot works for hunting? Do any of you use a Red/Green scope for hunting?

I have a sig red dot w/ a magnifier on a 300 blkout. Works great in bright conditions but at dusk not so much. Called in a big yote and couldn't see it clearly at dusk in tree line of a field. Sure wished I had a scope that day. It was at 150ish yards.

But even illuminated retics flood the glass with glare hampering low light conditions.

I think the Dot Scopes ..the ones where the dot appears in the reticle really work best when hunting dark color animals. Think Bears hogs and african plains game
