I did not. This particular lake on average is only about ten foot deep in most places. A floating line with a long leader worked just fine.
On a fly, no. Have caught several on traditional gear. I imagine it would be easy to do though.
9' 5wt. Plain ol b.h. olive wooly bugger worked just fine. Never tied on anything else but I'm sure there's plenty of other nymphs and streamers that would work. Matter of fact, I was fishing with my buddy that has the Creek Fishing Adventures YouTube channel and I think he caught some on a Prince nymph. The booger I was using was a size 10. I wouldn't worry much about the reel as long as it balances the rod well.
