NASCAR STICKS. The reason for the chase was not to influence who won. It was an attempt to beat the NFL in tv ratings. They FAILED!!! For the past few years their ratings and race attendance have been dropping. If you paid close attention, there were several races this past year with tons of empty seat in the stands. The sad part is that the best auto racing sport (IMO), the NHRA jumped on board with there own countdown points system.

I have 2 opinions about the "chase". 1. Who's to say that in the last 10 races everyone in the chase will have DNF's and the other guys do all the leading and winning ? That would bring them to the top of the points but they would not be eligable for the championship. 2. Why not start all the "chase" drivers with 0 points. Let them fight it out for the last 10 races
