My buddy that put in with me got his notification today that he was drawn for Chickasaw NWR, but mine did not come today, only the denial notice from Lower Hatchie. I assume my Chickasaw notice will be delivered in the coming days.

I stopped hunting public land a few years ago but I always liked Chickasaw. How is the population nowdays? Are the mosquitos still BAD?

We also got drawn for Chickasaw 2nd hunt.
Last time I was in CW was 21 yrs ago. Lol
I have absolutely no idea where to start so if someone doesn't mind to kind of point me in the general direction I would appreciate it. I can return the favor on Shelby Forrest if you are drawn.

Got my "Did Not Get Drawn" postcard for Lower Hatchie and Reelfoot. But I drew the 1st Adult Hunt on Chickasaw NWR so I'll get to start the season 2 days early. Haven't hunted it in several years so any assistance PM'd to me will be very much appreciated and kept confidential, especially from those of you who drew the 2nd and 3rd adult hunts. I'll be glad to pass on information from my hunt to you as well. Thanks.

This will be the first time I have ever hunted this particular place. I have mainly hunted Anderson Tully (lower) in Fort Pillow. I know Andy has hunted Chickasaw many moons ago. Can someone help us out with some areas we can start looking?

I hunted Chickasaw Refuge several years ago. The only thing I can say is I have never ever seen so many skeeters in my life. seems like every step I took a black cloud of them would rise from the swamp floor. Good luck

Last time I hunted it I had 2 thermacells running every time I sat down. One on each side.

I live in lauderdale and could help some or all of you out for sure. I did not get drawn this year. About any place on Chickasaw is good! Been seeing plenty of birds but prepare for the taradactyls!

Got drawn for Chickasaw and Lower Hatchie, just waiting to hear back on LBL and Wolf River
Which hunt did you draw at Chickasaw, UpperTully??

First hunt at Lower Hatchie and Second hunt at Chickasaw.
Good luck on your hunts. I have the first hunt on Chickasaw. Sure hope the water stays outta there.

....that river is going to be mighty iffy this year with all that snow up north.
Today's forecast shows 12' rise at Cairo over the next 5 days. That is a helluva jump in a short amount of time.

Long term shows it falling out by season opener, but I do not put much stock in it beyond 10 days.

The river at Caruthersville is at 26.85 and the forecast at 29.7 by March 14. That will put a lot of water on Chickasaw. Hopefully it will recede before the hunts but with the the additional rain forecast who's knows what will happen. Might be a good idea totune up your outboard
