Nice buck, what part of Iowa is he hunting in? Lot of good public ground in Iowa, some are small maybe 10 to 15 acres and they don't get hunted during bow season very much. Shotgun season is a whole different encounter.

He just transferred with a promotion from Des Moines to North East Iowa on the Mississippi River. He's working on the Illinois side and living on the Iowa side

thats a nice part of iowa and definitely looks different than where I hunt in SW iowa. Little more rolling hills and bigger timbers with less at fields like I have around here. You don't have to go vertfar west of him and the top 3 tiers of counties are buck only and no dos tags due to lack of deer and no habitat.
