Last year I planted my buck forage oats on Aug 28th. It was during the drought we had last year but luckily 3-4 days after we got a nice, drizzle rain and they did really well from Sept-Jan. Curious since it's been a wetter summer is it too early to plant now? Was thinking about planting maybe the last week of July or first weekend in August. I plan to do 3-4 more plots at my other property so was thinking about getting an earlier start.

I plant by the middle of September in Carroll County as the deer seem to prefer young growing oats and then very late season (January) plants. This also allows me to avoid the biggest drought periods of late July and August.
