Owned them for 60 years. Never had a problem. They are not tack drivers but plenty accurate for hunting. Have to keep the chamber good and clean to prevent jamming. Own one in .280 right now. Gave my son the first one I ever bought (30-06). Still shooting.

I agree on the cleaning. It is a bugger to keep the chamber clean with that design.

They make an off set brush for cleaning the chamber. The first 742 I bought came with one. I bought another one from Midway USA some time back. They might still have them.
