Selling and gifting is the same thing, except for some specific things with family members, as long as you don't have an FFL, you can sell a handgun to another Tennessee resident that is 18 or over and not a prohibited person.

I haven't kept up on the carry in a car, but my understanding is that 21 or in the military is the requirement. However, supposedly the Tennessee Attorney General has said he will not prosecute 18-20 and a bill is in process. I don't believe local DA's, or the courts are bound by AG rulings, so you might want to check that.

My oldest always hunted with me. Has his own rifles. When he turned 18 I gave him a nice shotgun. When he turned 21 a 1911. Only is was he was deployed. I could have given it early before he went but didn't. Was worried that it would be something I might not be able to share with him if he didn't come home.ended up being just the opposite. Sometimes just because it's legal doesn't make it right. And sometimes not legal isn't wrong.
