This guy came through yesterday after I hit the bleat can. I could tell that he was missing his left side and had a noticible limp from a gunshot wound on his right hip. After I skinned him out, I found what looked to be a bullet from a pistol lodged in the bone. The wound was pretty infected. He still gave me plenty of meat for the freezer though.

No need to make excuses as to why any deer is killed. I'm sure he will eat well.

By the way, was that bucks antler just broken off near the base, or was it ripped out at the core? I've even seen young bucks tear away part of their skull when breaking an antler off. THAT is truly a deadly injury.

You done good. I had to do the same thing once with a young buck. Thankfully, the wound was high in the leg though, so not much meat loss.
