Would any of you fellas know where a man might be able to hunt some fox squirrels on public ground? I'd love to try em out one time. Thanks

I know an area with a good population of them in Grainger county...
Would need to access by boat. Shoot me a PM if interested. Maybe we could work something out and I could introduce you... 😂

We always seen fox squirrels on Standing Stone in Overton County back in the 90s. Always wanted to go there and hunt them, but never did.
I've never seen a fox squirrel in Standing stone but it is crawling with greys this year.

I sure do appreciate all the reply's. I think me and Tenntrapper are gonna give em a go here in a week or to up his way. We'll let ya know how we do

I am on the KY, TN line (Calloway-Henry) been 3 Fox squirrels behind my shop for the last couple of weeks working on an acorn tree, 45 yrs ago it was rare to kill one around here except between the rivers, now there pretty abundant. Watched one this morning black face white tip on his tail very pretty. I am a pretty serious squirrel hunter but don't care much about killing fox squirrels. Here is a pic of one about a mile from where I live, these white squirrels will show up every so often then you want see them for a few years then there back. Wouldn't dare kill one.

I've seen several in the valley that I live in that are solid black. Same size as a gray but seem to get along

Google Olney, IL squirrels

You know who'd like to help balance the boat?
This guy.
I'm up in Claiborne County😳
We already got a boat full this trip...how about we get another trip setup? Oh, and plenty of fox squirrel on clinch mountain.... That is the hill between you and where we will be hunting... 😂 We will literally be at the base of clinch mountain.

They are still there
What part of the state forest are they in? I've only seen one in the area. It was dead on the road just as you leave the state forest heading toward Hilham. I am trying to find a rifle in 17 mach II to hunt them with.

For what it's worth I used to see them pretty regularly in Bledsoe State Forest by the prison. Been about 5 years since I hunted there but they were fairly common when I hunted there

Hilham side is where I've always seen em. Well the pecan grove too but don't think you can hunt em there

This fox squirrel showed up about 3 months ago and took up residence behind my shop, I have a shooting table about 25yds from the tree he is sitting in, every time I go out to sight a rifle in he will get on the same limb and start a growling sound then start barking at me. Look up close at the pic he has two white dots right above his eye's, pretty fox squirrel. He can be thankful that I don't care about killing fox squirrels.
