Smokeless Encore Conversions (Bergara)

Who else shoots the encore 45-70 conversion? Does anyone have good experience with grouping?

I've had mine for a little over a year but haven't had to shoot it over 50yds. I grouped it once at 100yds and got 1.5moa. I am going to fool with it more soon and get some pictures up for my groups. Right now I am shooting Barnes 195gr w/ Harvester Blue Crush & 55gr of H4198

I would go up to 60grns and possibly knurl those Barnes, it definitely won't hurt to knurl them.

I have a 45/70 conversion. It is a blued tC custom shop barrel. It shoots good at 100 with 60 gr of H4198, light blue harvester sabots, and either 200 gr SSTs or 195 gr Barnes. I haven't specifically measured either, but it's around an inch or under.

Unless you go sabot less which I have no experience with, the light blue harvester and either the SST or the Barnes are the best options for .45 conversions. If you can't get a group to your liking, I would try knurling as mentioned above.
