cornbread recipe yellow corn meal

looking for recipe, non rising cornbread.

My grandaddy used to make this out of yellow corn meal, cooked it in an iron skillet in the very bottom of a gas stove, flipped it when the top was brown and cooked the other side.

Reminds me of my momma cooking what she called hot water cornbread. She fried it in a skillet. Kinda like a thick pancake, biscuit sized.

Hot water cornbread or flapjacks are usually fried in the skillet in grease on top of the stove.
