So I went for a walk today on our new lease looking for sheds and turkey sign. I found this old deer stand in the woods. It's a street sign bolted to an extension ladder. There's a good deer trail about 15 yards away. Makes me wonder if that old redneck killed any deer out of it!

Some of the ones on our place are still visible that were built back in the 80's and 90's. I have seen a lot of deer in close proximity to those stands. Also, cameras show a lot of activity close to them.

Built many of those. Wasn't fun hauling them through the woods.

Usually those are in good spots. I have seen some crazy stands over the years. Craziest one I saw was a dining room chair about 25 foot in the air. It was nailed through the legs into 2x4's between a split tree. One brave sole sat in that stand.

One year Walmart had boat seats for $5. We made some new stands

On some land in Hickman Co. I found one of those old fiberglass chairs with chrome legs from the 60's about 35 feet up in a giant white oak tree (I'm sure 20-25 feet higher than when it was put up). It straddled a limb with no platform. I guess whoever put it up let their legs just hang down. I don't see how they could sit for long without their legs falling asleep.
