Hold up, is this a For Sale thread????

ETA: Nope and Nope.

Ruger American Compact or Rem Model 7, either one in 7mm-08. That, of course, assumes you want to discuss the "Perfect" SE Deer Rifle. ;)

Only 5 years ago, I had never fired a .308! Since then, I've fired a 308 more than all my other weapons combined over my entire life. That includes shotguns. This is a calculated estimate, but I've fired a 308 now over 10,000 times. I've grown to love this little short action 30 caliber cartridge that is just as comfortable with 130 grain projectiles as 215 grain slugs. I've burned through 5 barrels and hopefully will go through dozens more over my shooting career. I've thought about trading my trusty 270 deer rifle for a 308 but it's really hard to part with ole hammerhead. I think I'll have to agree that the 308 is the quintessential deer cartridge and I hope my Browning .270 can't read my mind! A walnut stock Bergara Timber in 308 fits the bill perfectly!
