Blackberry Dumplings
blackberries(or whatever berries you have, my maw maw used to use just about anything, i especially liked muscadine and grape)plus 1-2 cups of sugar.

blackberry mixture:
place blackberries in a large pot, cover with water, maybe 2 or 3 inches above blackberries. bring to a boil and add sugar, cook until berries are tender, maybe 15 minutes. taste and add more sugar if needed.

Dumplings:

4 tbl spoon butter
1 cup of milk
2 eggs
3 1/2 cups plain flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 teaspoons baking powder

mix all together, and drop one tablespoon at a time in the boiling blackberries, should be on medium heat, but adjust heat to keep boiling. after all dough is in the pot cook about 10 or so minutes or until they float. then it shouldnt take over 5 minutes of cooking to finish. always check one dumpling to make sure it is cooked all the way thru. serve in the pot, or in a dish. add some ice cream on top.

you can sub bisquick for the dough and it is pretty good too.
