I still can't figure out what this is. Was it near a creek or river?
Also was the wood rotten at all?

Strange for sure. I'd have to hang a camera on that.

Looks like just a rotten tree if it was a beaver it would look like it had been cut with an axe and a bear would be higher up the tree. Good luck on your hunt I'm on the same one the weather is going to be terrible but we get to hunt.

There were smaller marks up the tree, I'm thinking a momma teaching her Cubs to sharpen the claws?? But I know it was very fresh. Why do you think the weather will be bad still have 3 weeks to go.

Not meaning terrible but very mild would like to see a cold front come in which may help with deer movement not an expect on deer sign just looks like a rotten tree would have to see it in person
