I never expected those to get mounted. Are they not common in TN?
Naw real common, depending on the particular body of water.
10+ years before I ever duck hunted I saw one mounted in a store somewhere and I just thought it was an awesome looking bird and decided I wanted one some day.
This was the first one I have killed.
Hooded mergansers and as common as a wood duck down here still a pretty bird for what they are. I never thought I would get on mounted but then said why not and got one done lol

I currently have a bufflehead drake at the taxidermist right now
Who are you taking it to? Got 2 ducks I thought about getting mounted but didn't know who to take them to.
Beaver Dam taxidermy in Paris.
He has done 2 geese a duck and a pheasant for man and I. Does great work and is very reasonable!
