Went with a guy I duck hunt with few years ago and we've went every year since, I got a dog and he turned into a gun shy feed burner my wife lives so last weekend I went and bought a trained dog. She's older and suits me pretty good!

The habitat for quail in my small corner of southern KY has changed drastically in the 10 years since I've been hanging around down here. All the CRP ground is coming out of enrollment. I think this is the first year in 6 or more years I didn't hunt around home at all.

I've been doing a Kansas trip the last 2 years and it's a lot of fun. Long days walking but we usually find birds at most spots we drop. This last year, 2023, was a lot dryer and 2022 was pretty dang dry.

License is cheap and good for the season. If you have a dog you owe it to him to go. Most of the time I camp so only real expense is fuel nowadays
