I got in a new club this year and finally got a chance to look around Friday. There are a bunch of mature white oaks and red oaks, but I only found a few small acorns under some of the red oaks. No white oak acorns on the ground anywhere. No caps, no sign that the deer had been feeding on acorns, nothing. I keep hearing about a bumper crop of acorns, but there seems to be none on this place. If the trees are loaded and not dropping yet I couldn't tell. Any ideas? This is in NW Haywood County.

I'll bet they just haven't dropped yet. Normal peak White Oak drop isn't until late-October/early-November.

Reds seem to drop over a longer time period. I'll see a few dropping everywhere from late September all the way through mid-December.
