I was looking at mounts online that hold them at an angle and this idea occurred to me. It's very simple.

You take a cut piece of 1/2" PVC and slide it into the foramen, and hot glue in place on both ends (you can drip the hot glue right down the pipe to get the inside). I chose hot glue because it's easy but can be removed if needed. You then take 2 push pins and hot glue those at the base here.

The purpose of the thumbtacks is simply to keep it from rotating. There is very little pressure on them since it is almost balanced. You then slide the pipe onto a large nail angled slightly upwards, and push the thumbtacks into the wall.

It seems quite stable. I've bumped it a few times and it didn't move at all.

Just thought I'd share.

Great idea!
I've started using cheap stair banister brackets, holds then at correct angle and good for big or little deer 😄. 5 pack at Lowes was about $10 the last time I bought I think.

Another cheap and easy way if you want a plaque with the skull positioned at a 45deg angle to look natural.

Dowel rod the same diameter as the foramen magnum, stick it in the hole and mark the dowel to cut at the correct length. Screw the dowel onto the plaque. Set the skull on the dowel, then run a set screw through the back of the plate and into the skull (and into dowel inside the skull as well)

I saw a Euro mount tree on another forum, they used a small cedar tree for the vertical piece. I really like the idea and look, just needed to know what they used for the brackets. I think these would work.

These look like they would work great, but how do you keep them from rotating?
They just hang there, the weight usually keeps them from rotating, though if they get bumped, they may rotate.
