i finally got my gun together put a leupold 3x9x40 vxII on top of it. went to farm to shoot bought some winchester ballistic silvertip 130 grain shells to shoot started at 20 yards got it hitting in the black after about 7 shots then went to 100yards and it is dead in the middle but about 4 inches high. then went to 200 yards and got about 3 shots in a 3inch circle what should i do? should i split difference at 100yards so it want be so bad out or should i just remember its high at 100 yards. the only thing is i don't really take 200yards shots but take a lot under a 100. what do you all suggest. thanks for the input

I like mine in most cases 1" to no more than 2" high at 100. where I may be shooting 200 +. Dead on to 1" high at 100 if most likely shooting under 200.

Either way I do shoot em at 50 and 200 to check things out.

I would've expected a 270 WSM to have been higher than that at 200 if it's 4 inches high at 100. I usually do things backwards from most people. I get the gun on paper, sight it in at 200, and then shoot a few shots at 100 to see where it's shooting. That 270 WSM should be fine for a 200 yard zero unless you know you'll never have need for a long shot and then it'll be fine zeroed at 100. It all depends on what you know you'll be using it for. If it's zeroed at 200 I wouldn't expect it to be over 1.5-2.0 inches high at 100.

Don't shoot the silver tips (they are crap)
my 270 wsm wont shoot them well at all

1 1/2 inch high @ 100 & your good
my a bolt likes the factory barnes trip shock 130, corelocks 130, and really likes my reloads-130 grain hornady interbonds
I here the fusions are also good shooting rounds

My .270 wsm is sighted in 2" high at 100 yards and I shoot 130gr SST's over Magpro powered handloads,I don't know what that equals out to when you start shooting a long ways but last season I shot 2 deer one at 380 yards one at 373. I held dead on and they dropped, also shot some under 100 all with dead on holds, all down at the shot. I'm shooting a Winchester with a 24" tube.

Hope this helps.

My nephew has a Mt. Ti that would'nt shoot BSTs..He ended up loading Nosler accb.s..The most accurate load listed in the manual works the best for him after trying 4 different loads....He ended up gettin' .50" at 100' inside 1 at 2..The short mag barrels heat up real quick and he had some build up problems with the BSTs..I shoot em in my 300WSM but I run a boresnake thru after each shot and let the barrel cool..
