Got to my property a little later than I wanted to (as usual). It was plenty daylight. Walked in and listened for a good bit and heard nothing. I let out a few yelps on the wingbone and had one gobble immediately. Problem was that he was a good ways off. Waited for a minute and yelped again and he answered immediately but in the same spot (I think he was still on roost). Waited a little longer for my next series of calls and when I did, he had cut the distance in half and was probably 100 to 150 yards away. I decided to shut up and wait. After maybe 20 minutes of silence I was just about to hit the call again when exploded about TEN yards behind me and to my left. It was raining so I couldn't hear crap, never knew was there. He came around and was going past me and I spooked him a little trying to get into shooting position. Just as he was starting to take off, he turned quartering away giving me a good head shot at twenty yards. Dropped like a sack of taters. At the "Plantation" I have a self imposed limit of one, so I am done and ready to go fishing. Everyone enjoy the rest of the season!

You did good!! Over calling is probably the worse thing you can do. It took me years to figure that out lol. If they answer your call and sound like they are closer on the next set, STOP calling they are probably coming in silent. But you knew that and it payed off.
Congrats on getting out on a nasty day and sealing the deal. Great looking bird BTW.
