Battery powered fillet knife?

I was telling my wife the other day after cleaning one fish that I really wanted a battery powered fillet knife.
The only one I have really looked at is the Bubba brand and best I remember they are like pushing $200 and I just ain't paying that.
Apparently big brother was listening because this morning an ad popped up for an Old Timber one.

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried one of these?
I have wasted $100 on dumber stuff but I am tempted to try this one.

Well after looking I can get the Bubba Blade for $110 and the Old timer for $75.

Co-worker has a Bubba Blade and it is nice. Cleaned over 500 fish in a kids rodeo back last summer on one battery charge. I will be getting one soon myself.

The group of guys (5) bought me a Lithium Bubba blade last year. It's incredible. One night I filleted 60 Seatrout and 8 reds on one battery! Ergonomically far superior to my old chorded electric knife.

Worth the price IMO

Can't keep them sharp for squat and I SUCK at it.
Much easier and faster for me to cheat.

When I learn to catch more than about a half dozen crappie I'll consider an electric knife. I certainly don't have to worry about my "regular" knife going dull.

I had three Berkley lithium ion knives, none of them lasted through a mess of fish before they stopped working.

Wife got me one of the Rapala ones for my birthday, I haven't used it as yet. Came with two batteries. We'll see how it holds up once it gets to the point we can get out and go fishing (which means "when it gets warm" in her book.

I never filet over 15 crappie at a time. I still use my old Alaskan and Rapalas (one is over 35 years old) to filet my crappie and shellcrackers. Not in any hurry.

One Spring me and a buddy went bream fishing and did really good. That was on a Thursday afternoon.
Friday we were off work, probably Good Friday, and him, his son and I went back and did even better than the afternoon before.
Saturday morning my son and I went and tore them up AGAIN.
I like to leave my fish on ice overnight before I fillet them.
Added a bit of ice every day and then got up Sunday morning and started cleaning them.
My son got up about an hour later and started helping me.
When it was all said and done we filleted over 400 bream.

My son told me afterwards, "Just so you know, I will NEVER do that again." LOL

I like to do no more than 60 at a time now.

I have the Bubba lithium and am probably one of the few people that don't like it. What I don't like is the safety lock for the trigger. When I get in the groove of filleting fish fast, I end up hitting that lock with what seems like every other fish. It breaks my rhythm and slows me down. If you wear the non slip filleting gloves, the trigger guard is too small too. The batteries do last a while though…but 9 times out of 10 I still grab the little flex blade Rapala.

I have literally cleaned thousands of fish with many different knives, electric and just a regular fillet knife in my life.

The bubba rechargeable is an awesome knife. We had couple of days last fall that I cleaned over 100 fish a day. 2 days in a row without a charge, knife was still going strong and the blades that come with it are great.

We used to catch a few crappie, my friend Bob and myself, back in the day would say it was a bad day if we didn't keep 100 crappie back when there was not a limit. Electric knife, IMO, is the only way to clean that many fish.

I keep mine on ice over night as well. A lot easier to filet, less waste.

American Angler for a corded and the Rapala R12 for a battery.
Ask around on FB what the crappie guides use down South on the big 4!

I have had a rapala rechargeable for a couple of years. No problems at all. Cleaned 30 white bass the other day and it never bogged down. I would buy again.

The LI battery's are great in anything, long run time and when it's time to recharge,they shut down, no damage by over using.

I too have a Rapala Lithium.Have cleaned 45 crappie at one cleaning and it was going strong when I was done. May not be the best but is a good fillet knife.

Back when I was an early teenager, a fella that worked for my dad would take me out on an area lake in February and fish for crappie usually all day. Freezing our tails off. He would not leave until we had a 5 gallon "lard" can filled. I soon learned real well how to catch crappie so we wouldn't be out there all day. Teenage attention span is not very long. One of my favorite parts was we would grill hot dogs in the boat off and on all day. That made it more bearable for a youngster. This was back in the mid-sixties.
