Though I have killed birds in the afternoon, typically choose to leave them alone so they can loaf, feed, rest, nest, and generally do their turkey-thing undisturbed. Work commitments due to COVID19 will likely cut my season way short so figured better make the best of what little time I have.

Sat down in in timbered finger that juts out into a field such that I can see both openings real well, called, and thought I heard (because of the wind) the faintest of gobbles. 15 minutes later, called again, and a little while after setting the box down here came the 3 amigos...they had 6-8 hens Saturday and weren't about to leave their girls. Today though they were henless so I'd say laying is WELL underway; perhaps some setting by now.

Congrats!! He's a stud. Have you broken in both barrels on the new 20 gauge yet?
Yessir, and they've both really performed admirably. Short barrel at 30yds, long barrel at 43yds...both stone dead. Both POI/POA and a solid pattern core = no pellets in the breast. I couldn't ask for much more.

Congrats! And I'd stomp all those tracks out if you were on public or any ground with other hunters:)
