Large black coyote

I don't know if it is an optical illusion or what but this yote seems to be larger than normal for this area. I have another property about 2-3 miles away that I have gotten pictures of a black coyote as well. I wonder if it could be the same one?

That doesn't look like a coyote to me. Looks more like a Wolf than a Coyote, but supposedly there aren't any Wolves in Tennessee. Possibly a Dog. Maybe you will get lucky and get some better pics.

Good luck killing him. Killed loads of coyotes here and tons of pics and never seen a black one. Coydogs do exist, but ears and tail on that one sure look like a coyote.

Winter coats get fluffy. Might have some red wolf in him for size but coyotes when well fed can get to be pretty good sized and some dog DNA can explain the melanistic coloring. They look great after a good taxidermy job!

Coywolf. Had one on few years back on farm in Hickman County. Landowner & son had both seen it. That is what he called it. I saw it a couple times...huge... did not have a shot.

Not to hijack thread, same landowner told me of hog sighting this year in Hickman County. He told me where, but having CRS, it left me.

I shot a black and tan one on this property a few years ago and this is the 2nd full black one I have seen here. The last one I saw was about 10 years ago and I walked up on it digging a hole. I thought it was someone's dog and at the time I didn't even know a coyote could be black.

If you DO get a shot at it, be certain to verify it's a yote before posting pics of it.... I'm remembering the gal who shot a Husky in Alaska I believe it was , and immediately posted pics that she had shot a wolf.

I seen a black yote a few years ago while deer hunting, I couldn't figure it out , I kept thinking it was a dog because of the color. By the time I realized it was a yote he disappeared into a thicket. Beta of luck to you , I hope you get him!

Same thing happened to me with one that looked similar to a German shepherd. I hesitated just for 2 secs and that sob was gone.

Big dominant male? I killed one several years back that weighed 54lbs but that was full blooded coyote.
