We are gonna go early and hang cams and stands. Will be lucky if we hunt. Then we will be shooting for that 5-? Week more than likely. That seemed to be when the big ones usually went daylight
Yeah I would love to be there that second week but illinois has got that week tied up. I'm not looking to kill a monster the first year although it would be nice. Honestly 130 inch buck would be ok with me. Here in East tn. Those 130s are giants

Leave the climbing stand at home too. Very few climbable trees out there. We ran lock ons but a saddle probably wouldn't be a bad option either. Or a ground blind. We'd trim a hole out in a cedar tree and stuff a blind back in it and brush it in with the trimmed limbs

Thanks for the info! Any other secrets to the deer movement down there? I've never hunted any kind of terrain like that.

Rifle hunted central KS a few yrs. Some TV hunters killed some big deer in the area and told the world where they were hunting. The pressure went way up after that. Most any cover out there holds deer. Don't over look the walk in properties.
Does the WIHA get really pounded? Or Can you get really remote in the units and get away from pressure? A lot of really good looking pieces on OnX.

Yes and No. The properties that looked good for deer hunting got hit pretty hard. But we've seen some good bucks on properties that were wide open without much cover at all.
