Did anybody put in for kansas draw this year ?
? It's like a 85 percent draw. I didn't put in for the #1 B&C unit cause I figured I wouldn't get itbought a point
My group knows we can't go this next season but the next? It's like a 85 percent draw. I didn't put in for the #1 B&C unit cause I figured I wouldn't get it
If you do not mind me asking, what areas have you hit in the past?I'm in. Will be our 4th year. New area this year
What units did you put in for?I'm in. Will be our 4th year. New area this year
Nice! How was 7 and 8 ? I'm assuming your hunting public? We have hunted 7&8 the past 3 years
Oh ok. Have you guys been killing every year ? Just trying to gather as much info as possible. It's my first year out west that far. I'm going by myself. Couldn't find anyone to go with. I'm just hunting publicNo. We hunted with a outfitter in Belleville area.
Nice! Thanks for the info. If I get drawed I'm gonna head down to do a pre scout trip late sept prob and just wing it like I have in the past.No. We usually carried a group of 4-5. We averaged 2 deer a year. Wasn't real happy with the outfitter. Things started to slip. So we bailed on it and went a different route this year. We got a lease is the southern portion of unit 14. There's a ton of deer where we hunted. Could have killed plenty of 120's. But we were hunting bigs
Ok. Sounds like KY. What would you say is the best time for big bucks on their feet? I was planning on going Oct 29th to maybe Nov 5thLittle tip, if you're in ag country, don't waste your time until crops get harvested.
Yeah I always heard kansas is a little earlier. I go to Illinois from the 5th to the 14thThat's close. Just like everywhere else, weather and moon will get them rolling. Our hunt was the week leading up to Halloween every year. It was a little to early. One of the reasons we switched as well. We would start seeing some the last 2-3 days. But the next 2 weeks after that got progressively better. I'd say either 29-5 or 5th on. Depending on moon stage and weather
Yeah I would love to be there that second week but illinois has got that week tied up. I'm not looking to kill a monster the first year although it would be nice. Honestly 130 inch buck would be ok with me. Here in East tn. Those 130s are giantsWe are gonna go early and hang cams and stands. Will be lucky if we hunt. Then we will be shooting for that 5-? Week more than likely. That seemed to be when the big ones usually went daylight
Buddy i am going with and i have discussed a spring turkey hunt in the areas the spring before. I am like you, i wanna get boots on before november. Will be putting in for 7&8 or 7&3Nice! Thanks for the info. If I get drawed I'm gonna head down to do a pre scout trip late sept prob and just wing it like I have in the past.
Thanks for the info! Any other secrets to the deer movement down there? I've never hunted any kind of terrain like that.Leave the climbing stand at home too. Very few climbable trees out there. We ran lock ons but a saddle probably wouldn't be a bad option either. Or a ground blind. We'd trim a hole out in a cedar tree and stuff a blind back in it and brush it in with the trimmed limbs
Thanks for the tip!Yeah
During that time of year pick a good spot and stay there. Deer out there travel for miles and new bucks will probably show up daily.
