Without reading the article I'll guess the obvious…CWD infected deer are more prone to being eaten by predators vs perfectly healthy deer.
That's partly correct. They are also more prone to getting killed by hunters, hit by cars or succumb to other diseases.

We shed hunt thousands of acres each year and very seldom find a dead one. I honestly believe I found more dead ones before CWD came along. Buzzards and coyotes aren't eating the bones of the dead ones. I feel like the 3 doe a day limits along with a 2 month long gun season are killing most of our deer out. But I think in Fayette/Hardeman county's the biggest killers are the farmers with their summertime permits. I know in my areas they have almost devistated our population.

There are areas where farmers are killing the piss outta them!!! I think people would be shocked at how many are killed in summer If you're in a agriculture area. You've probably found your culprit

I have found 5 so far this year.
3 before season opened. These 2 had been dead a long time
