I like a steady flow of deer where i'm hunting. I can wait all season for the right buck i don't care anything about shooting a doe .You can have both big deer and a lot of deer on the same property. I know this wasn't what you asked.

Quantity....I'm a meat hunter.
I've killed 2 Pope and Young deer and after the 2nd, lost all interest in horns.
Killed this guy this year because he was the biggest body I had seen all season AND he walked up and stopped 40 yds away.
Gave his horns to a buddy.

More deer. I get bored seeing no deer waiting on that big deer. Big deer means you were lucky he came by, no one shot him already. Just because you shoot a big deer doesn't mean you are great hunter. Look at all the juveniles on here that shoot big deer and are not that great a hunter or have hunted long enough to be experienced in killing big bucks.

Soddy Daisy, yes it's a real place
I like seeing deer every hunt and I don't care if it's does, spikes or brutes. I guess it all depends on the location you hunt and how you've grown up hunting. For me I've always hunted the mountains and normally the deer density is low or at least it's hard to get on them so if I shoot a doe, spike or a brute I'm just as thrilled with any of them. I've been fortunate to take a few big deer for my standards in the 150ish mark but those come once every 2 or 3 years and it's definitely not every year. So if I see some does at least I consider the hunt successful even if I hold off on pulling the trigger.

Agreed. I hunt for pleasure. If I want to kill a deer I don't want to wait. Sometimes I leave the woods satisfied by the deer I saw that day without firing a shot.
