So weather is not looking great for the hunt this weekend at Catoosa.
It's my first time hunting the early hunt and will only be there Friday and Saturday.
With rain coming in what's some tips to keep it dry?
I'm thinking of going into thicker cover so maybe that will help me stay dryer and see more deer but what's some tips to keep a muzzy dry with poor weather?

Electric tap over the muzzle or a balloon either will help keep water out of your muzzle. You can shoot through it and it will not hurt anything

Yes, it's going to be rather damp according to the forecast RN. The pattern could change, and it can only improve, looks like.

Previous post was spot on about swapping powder each day. I learned that lesson last year, November 13th will be burned into my memory forever. I'll get over that someday, maybe. (Ya see, that was the first time I let a huge buck get away.) Up until that point, if I laid eyes on one, I'd come home with him.

Anyways, I'd recommend a tree umbrella, or a blind along with waterproof clothing and footwear. I'm going out there and hunting all day, no matter how much it rains. My 2 youngest kiddos are recovering from their tonsillectomy's that were done on Friday. I sure hope they're well enough to be feeling better by Thursday.

Best of luck to everybody who's going!

Post back here, if you're going. I have an idea for this year's hunt, may get to meet some of you guys.

electric tape over the end of the barrel. Actually every gun you deer hunt with should have electric tape over the end of the barrel, rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader.

Like Carlos said, tree umbrella, wouldn't hunt damp weather without one. Definitely water repellent clothing and packable rain jacket, preferably 1 size larger on the jacket. When walking in or out and using a sling, carry with barrel down. Use your scope cover and carry something to wipe your lenses that won't scratch them. I've seen good bucks moving in nasty weather many times, keep your head on a swivel ole buddy and good luck. 👍

I just hung my stand and made a few preps for the forecasted weather.

In the past when I'd sit all day during the rain, after a few hours, the rain would soak my seat cushion from rubbing down the tree trunk. This time I think I've found a cure for that. I cut part of a trap, and wrapped around the trunk, leaving it loose at the top. This way when rain runs down the tree, it should all go behind the tarp and allow the seat to stay dry.

What do you think?

I'm just now seeing a few rubs and scrapes. There weren't any in this area I hunt 10 days ago, but now they're popping up.

When I drove by the Genesis shooting range earlier it looked like here was a brush fire. It was only from all the muzzleloaders being fired.
