We will be using a 30-30 with 160 grain LeverEvolutions Saturday because we will be hunting thick stuff. On Sunday we will swap to a 243 with a 100 grain hollow points. This farm will be more open with longer shots. My boys are comfortable shooting both these rifles.

My son will be toting his compact Ruger American (7mm-08). Since we're coming all the way from Alabama we've also bringing my Ruger American .308 as a backup in something unexpected happens with his gun.

CVA Hunter .243 with 100 grain Remington Core Lokt.

I was shocked at the damage this combo did on the doe my son shot last Saturday.

Not sure which she is going with yet. Her first 3 deer were all with her mother's savage model 10 in 243, with my handloads. She made great shots on all 3. She may use one of my 308's or 6.5 cm this year. One last practice session this afternoon to decide.

10 year old daughter - Remington Model 7 7mm-08 shooting 140 gr Remington Core Lokt

13 year old son - Mossberg Patriot 6.5 Creed shooting 140 gr Federal Fusion that he just bought as a backup gun so he wants to try it out. I asked him last night if he was going to wear a man bun Saturday. :) It is a shooter though. I would say it's around a 1/2" group on the last three shots.

Good confidence builder this afternoon, 14 year old chose the 6.5 creedmoor over 308. Custom build with a 20 inch ballistic advantage barrel. Running 143 grain eld-x handloads with 42 grains imr 4350. She printed touching groups at just shy of 100 yards inside the bull vs a little over inch and a half groups with the 308.

Just need the right deer to show up, have not had a single shooter(for me) on cams this summer. Best to date has been a 2.5 year old 17 inch inside 8, she will get the green light on him if he shows.
