this is just one example of what they are talking about. some defending, some criticizing but at the end of the day, imo, the "elites" should be just that the best of the best at catching bass at any lake in any condition and not being dependent on one piece of equipment.

"He boated his first largemouth on the first day of the Elite Qualifier of 2023 on Lake Eufaula in Alabama. He finished 104th in that event, which is, by far, his worst showing of the season.

Bruce excels at fishing offshore with heavy reliance on forward-facing sonar. He refined this skill while competing in Canadian tournaments for walleye and smallmouth bass.

While practicing for the Eufaula Open, he employed his electronics to locate brushpiles and other offshore targets he intended to fish during the tournament. That plan vaporized when his forward-facing sonar crashed.

"It's hard to fish offshore without forward-facing sonar," Bruce said. "I resorted to flipping and swimming a worm in shallow water."

I'm not against FFS, but I do think something should maybe happen with the tournaments. That's a prime example of how good it is.

Fella still could have used his 2d to mark it and throw a buoy out like I have done.

FFS isn't going anywhere.

I would, however, like to see them ban the use of Aquaview/cameras during practice.

I remember graphing a spot on 2D, throwing out a buoy, and feeling like I was cutting edge. 😅 I still use marker buoys in my pond boat. I don't have FFS in it. I can get a better mental image of what I'm fishing and it's location with a buoy out, and it's just easier than triangulating.

yeah i agree its not going anywhere because there is to much money flowing into BASS from these companies. but me personally i think it should not be allowed in pro tail tournaments, along with floggers, and aqua vu. practice wouldnt really matter since bass dont stay in one spot from day to day. i think pro bass fishing has become more or less about commercialism than it has been about the best of the best.

the saying "well you cant make em bite." ill disagree with that to a point. take the 2018 ky lake elite series for example. when everyone around was saying that ky lake was dead, carp were eating all the shad, etc. the top 4 anglers caught 70-80 pounds. like i said on here that year, thats what seperates the pros from the joes.

I use it for crappie. Have toyed with putting a system on my river boat for smallmouth, but decided against it. Lake largemouth fishing just dont tickle my fancy- but i can see how it would help. I sure see a ton of bass on brush piles.

I like using the bouy still. Especially if I'm thinking I need to fish slow with live minnows. Throw the buoy out, and get two or three rods with minnows just sitting around it.

John Soukup comes to mind when you mentioned a crappie fisherman on the Elite series. Lots of people thought he was going to come in and be force because he was so good with FFS. That wasn't the case. He had a rough year.
