My 3rd foodsaver is getting old and feeble.

Want to get a powerful replacement. Something with a strong vacuume, and good hot sealing strip that can handle fresh venison roasts, piles of veggies etc....

Would be nice to be able to buy long rolls of good quality bags too.

I don't need a commercial job that is so big you can vacuume seal a small car. It seems that when you jump up into a commercial power/quality they get real pricy as they seem to want to go to very wide bag capacity.

Anybody have a recommendation for me?
Thanks!

wish I could help, i use the foodsaver. Got it at lowes on clearance when they came out with a new model. Got 20 rolls of bags there too for 50 cents apiece.

Dont get me wrong, I have LOVED my foodsavers but I want something sturdier and stronger.

They don't seal wet stuff very well. (unfrozen deer meat)
The quality of the bags has declined a bit too as I am having more bags loose seal in the freezer.

I want to buy ONE more vacuume sealer that will last me 10 years. Foodsavers seem to last me about 2-3 years until I wear em out.

I think any of them would have trouble sealing wet stuff. I have one from Black & Decker that I have been using for about 5 years. It's nothing fancy. I've used it for venison, fish, turkey and veggies. You can usually look at the seal and see if it is good, any doubt and I double seal it.

Funny you mention the bags.....the replacement Food Saver bags I've bought have been very chintzy....they curl up way too much, and it's hard to feed the cut end into the sealer, since it curls the ends opposite of each other.

The original bags that came with my Food Saver were fantastic.

I know there are commercial models that can handle "wet packing" food.

Don't know what make/model would work for what I need without spending a zillion though.

I have 3 foodsavers, every time I buy one I see another model I like more so I buy it. The ones that work on AC or DC are really nice.

I get my bags off Ebay in a 50 ft roll, seam to be a little better quality than the Foodsaver brand bags, cheaper also.

Yikes! Found a small commercial sealer $565 !!!!

The compartment style sealers are over a Grand!!!

I knew I should have bought one last year when they were $385

Stinking liberals and their inflationary spending policies!

If you find one report back.

Not completely relevant but a neat story: Back when I bought my vacuum sealer years ago I went to Academy Sports in Cool Springs. When I put it on the counter the girl looked confused because the price on the tag of about $69 didn't match the price coming up on the register, which was $40. She asked for help from some guy I assume was a manager. In a brilliant display of customer service he smiled and told me, "We messed up somewhere. You pay what the register says." I've been using that same vacuum sealer since that day and it has yet to fail, but I'm sure it'll blow up some day.

Neat little machines.

I think my next one will be a commercial.

The commercial bags are pre-cut, but are sold by the 500 and 1000 count. Eventually you'll come out ahead if you use it much.
