Has anyone every sponge painted a stock?ive got a couple I want to try it on and I'm looking for tips. Is it better to go light to dark, vice versa or doesn't matter?
I played around with an old stock I had lying around but was never completely happy with it. You'll want to start with lighter colors. I like the pattern on Manners stocks. I believe that's what I'll try to emulate next.
Did one of my Mrods a couple of years ago. Lightly sanded a wood stock then rattle can flat with patterns then sprayed a satin clear over it. It's starting to flake on a couple of places. If doing it again I'd sand more, start with a base color primer (black, grey, OD, which I did the first time) then accent pattern colors. I ordered a bark stencil off ebay for like 10 bucks.
