According to this, if the inflatable is used as a Type V then it must be worn to be accepted. Normal usage when fishing would not require this (Type V are designed for special use; the Bass Pro one's linked earlier are Type II):

Almost sounds like it depends on what mood the officer is in. LOL

My HIT is a mustang. From what I have read and personal experience, I would take my 90.00 and apply it to the price of the HIT because experience shows it isnt if it will accidentally deploy it is when and how many times. My buddy cant swim and he stumbled wading the Spring river and splashed water on his and it went POOOF and deployed. Only wish I had the video.

I have a similar vest and it did the same thing back when it was new. I eliminated the auto inflate wafer, put a new CO2 cylinder in it ($20!) and never had a problem again. I always wear it, it's very comfortable and unobtrusive.
