Just got back from helping my boy skin and start the butchering on the 9-point he killed this morning. It was an 8-point with a drop tine-looked to have had a matching drop tine on the other side that had broken off.

The buck was taken at aprox. 50 yds. with a T/C sidelock, #11 cap, and a maxi-ball over a moderate powder charge. Appears that older guns and loads still kill deer very dead.

Congrats to your boy, OT! My son and I doubled up this morning too. It was my son's first ML buck since he borrowed a smokepole while in high school. I think he's hooked. He said he might carry it instead of his .308 on rifle opener.

Congrats Oldtimer. You are very correct the old stuff still works just fine.

I took two deer this season with my 13 year old PSE bow. I plan on making it to the woods next year with, by then my 14 year old PSE bow.
