I'd love the opportunity to take some scoter, eider and some "whistlers" on salt water up in the northeast.

Any one have the name of a guide that they have used personally? The friend of a friend of an uncle's 9th cousin won't hold water. You get the drift.

I can help you on the scoters (black and surf) and divers, but its in NC.

I will see if I can get ahold of a buddy. He helps a guy guide in Canada, Then when it closes they guide at Cheasepeke Bay for Canada's and for Sea ducks. I will see if they are all booked up.

I'd recommend contacting Capt. Jeff Coates of Pitboss Waterfowl. I havent used him personally, but if I were to book a trip, he'd be first on my list to call. If you need references, check out refugeforums.com. I've yet to read a bad word about his outfit.

They dont get enough eiders in MD to really count on bagging them, but he can probably put you in touch with a top notch outfit farther north that does target them if they're a "must-have."

Do an internet search on Maine's Penobscot Bay duck hunts. There are several good guides that work there and the bay area is Eider heaven! One of the most ruggedly beautiful places I have ever seen around Stonington....

Mid coast has (Rockland) lots of great hunting and "usually" has less pressure than further South.
