Scope Mount?

Is it necessary to use Lock-tight when mounting rails for a scope on a Muzzle loader?

I think it's a good idea to use some sort of thread lock when mounting rings/rails & scopes no matter what. Over time they could loosen up and more than likly it will happen just when your going for that once-in-a-lifetime shot and you wonder why you missed.... jmo.

Used the blue, if you ever have to take it off, it will come

You have to heat red Loctite to break it loose, never a good idea on a gun.

I use blue loc-tite on the bases only, nothing on the rings.

Where exactly are using, how putting it on? I notice on at least one of my rifles, the scope mount holes go clear into the action.....seems locktight would get in the action if I used it on those screws.

Just use a drop if that, put it on the screw threads, shake off any excess, and then thread screw in.

I always put a little blue thread locker on my bases and rings.

I ran into trouble using the blue had to get my smith to extract bolt he says never use nothing but a little grease. and don't over tighten thats the words of the great Danny Johns
