Finally got some range time in yesterday. Got it bore sighted and on paper first shot.
Shot my first group, not great...needs some tweaking.
At least its on paper at 100 yards. See you guys at the shoot tomorrow.
Time for some tweaking the loads now.

Starting load was 60gr H4198/ 200gr SST.

I switched to a duplex load 50/10 H4198/4759 and having much better results.

Thanks to CR500 for some load advice.

You need to come down and shoot with us sometime.
Fullstream and I are getting some range time in this Thur.

You've got it shooting pretty good. I've been thinking about going the smokeless route myself. I know a guy that's got a Savage 110 action(he wouldn't sell it the last time I asked him though)that might make a good ML. I may ask him again though because, he might decide to sell it someday. I really don't know what it would cost to build one though.

Did you Knurl the SSTs at all? A light knurl tightens mine up(very light).

I haven't knurled any yet, hope I don't have to.
I have a Leupold XIII 3.5x10x40 on it.

In the McGowan I run 10gr IMR SR4759/ 50gr IMR 4198.

I don't have any shot over 250 though. Some guys run it a bit higher.

That is what I'm shooting also. A duplex load 50/10
The second group was the duplex load, seems to work for me.
I think the furthest I'll attempt is probably 250yrds.

Same load you're using now with 250 SST/Shockwave or Barnes 250TEZ knurled. I hunt with the Barnes, the deer "no likey".
