If you look closer it is GenMar that filed bankruptcy and they own Ranger, Stratos, Hydrasports, and Champion - also some skiboat lines. Ranger is probably carrying their weight for GenMar right now - Champion is the step child of the bassboat side. Heard yesterday from a buddy in the business that one of GenMar's ski boat lines owes a dealer $170,000 in rebates....well you can kiss that goodbye. It's not as black and white as some in this post are trying to make it. It's easy to say OMG they're so expensive that's why they went bankrupt...not the sole reason. And for the Triton took Ranger's market share....well Earl Bentz no longer owns Triton they are now part of Brunswick - don't be so surprised if this also happens sometime in the future to Triton due to this. The new Phoenix boat company that bought out the old Bumble Bee plant in Tullahoma is doing it right - staying small, keeping models simple and making a really nice boat. And everyone harps on the price of a Ranger - you should also price a Stratos, Triton, Skeeter etc. etc. - bass boat are expensive period.
