If I was buying a rifle just for predators I'd probably get one of three --- .223, .22-250, or .204. That said I deer hunt mostly with a .243 and shot my first one with it this year. Shot it with 100 grain Remington Core Lokts at 69 yards. Went it like a pencil hole and blew out the opposite side in about a 5" diameter. Picked it up and body slammed it like nothing. If you don't want to do anything with the hide it's perfect. Otherwise shoot a smaller bullet.

Personally as long as you hit them, who cares about ethics when it comes to coyotes.....

I care about ethics no matter WHAT animal I am shooting. While predators such as coyotes are in fact, a nuisance, one should still exercise hunting ethics. PETA feeds off comments like yours.
JMHO. ;)
