Looks like 50 may be a little too far for the long beard XR #6s with my current setup. Really happy with the 25 yard pattern though.
I'm gonna go to a patterning board soon that has 5 yard increments in between and find out for sure.25 is good, 50 isn't. Wonder what your effective range is with that setup? 30, 35, 40?
It's a mossberg 835 with a rhino chokeI cantbstand lead 6's for turkey, if thats what i was using would definitely try a different choke, what gun and choke you using?
Have you tried the xr #5 in that setup? The 5 always shot better in my 835 with 670 puregold than the 6 didIt's a mossberg 835 with a rhino choke
I have not actually. I purchased a ton of the #6's but ill grab a few boxes of #5 and try it out. Thank you!Have you tried the xr #5 in that setup? The 5 always shot better in my 835 with 670 puregold than the 6 did

Thanks man! Same to you!If you were closer id give ya some lol good luck this spring
Thats a good idea. Ill try that this evening.I would try shooting at a bigger target and shoot at 40 yards. The 25 yard target is shifted to the right. Could the 50 yard target have the center of the pattern off the target? I used to always shoot a poster board but got a roll of brown contractors paper a few years ago at Lowes that I now shoot. It allows you to see your entire pattern.
I was about to type the same thing. I no longer have it but shot the extra full choke that came with it and Winchester XR 5's.Have you tried the xr #5 in that setup? The 5 always shot better in my 835 with 670 puregold than the 6 did
I've got an 835 with a Primos Jelly Head and it shoots very good! Killed many turkeys with it. It's now a home defense gun, but shoots great. It's a mossberg 835 with a rhino choke
Mike, you are right, all it takes is 1 pellet in the right place to kill a bird. That 50y target has 9... dead bird on that particular shot.HOW DEAD IS DEAD ? On your 50 yard shot I counted 9 hits in the killing zone. BIRD IS DEAD. Just because there is not 50 in the head , that is a killer shot
That one time yes!! Consistently no look at all the hole in pattern, we owe more to the animals we hunt than spray and pray hoping for 1 lucky pellet, and also keep inmind its lead 6's at 50 yards which you need all you can get in the head and neck to get enough energy to break it.HOW DEAD IS DEAD ?
