Old Stone Fort September 26-28 Knapp In and Archaeoskills
Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park will host its bi-annual knap-in and archaeo-skills event that allows visitors to take a glance on the Native American way of life. Flint-knapping and crafts such as pottery demonstrations, basket weaving, and cordage making are just a few of the events taking place over the weekend. On Saturday, Dr. Kevin Smith from Middle Tennessee State University will present a program on Mississippian Stone Statuary of the Tennessee Cumberland Region and David Dye of University of Memphis will present on cave archaeology within the state of Tennessee. Vendors with appropriate items will be present for the 3 days of the event. NO AUTHENTIC Artifacts will be sold at this event.
