Location:
Dead Zero Shooting Park
Spencer Tn.

Target distances 46 yards to 250 yards.
Get your app running. Thanks

I have some questions:
1. Are the distances posted before the match? If not, can we use a rangefinder (and/or confirm distances w/ a rangefinder)?
2. How much wind does it take to put that windsock at 90* and at 45*?
3. Can we use any type of bag/bipod on the forearm? Can we use a rear bag?
4. Can we use a tripod or other device to steady the rear when kneeling/standing?
5. No coaching, right?
6. How far back is it to the where the grass isn't mowed?
7. Is long gong done long gone for good?
8. How much time is allowed per stage?
9. When shooting from one of the wooden structures, plywood with cutouts in particular, is the shooting level specified? There is over a foot of height different between my shooting buddy and me and a required front rest height could cause some hardship.

I think this is going to be a ton of fun, more fun than long gong. I set up a 300 yd range at the house and I have a pretty tight shooting rifle (about 2 to 2 1/2 moa at 100), but shooting .22 at 300 was more than a little frustrating. Just hitting the 8" plate was a big challenge at that range and the 6 and 4" were not within reach of my rifle. A friend tried it with his bull barreled .22 and it was like, nope, not happening even with sk long rifle match. (This rifle will routinely ping 8" steel at 200). But with 250 the max in the new game, it takes some of the equipment/ammo out of the equation and allows those sharp shooter, hard holding, squirrel hunters to compete (although good equipment/ammo helps .... a lot).

If I can get my dope for such a wide range nailed down and the weather is mild, I'll plan to be there.

1-yes
2- no idea
3-yes as long as you shoot from the specified positions.
4-no
5-first match will be helping each other within reason.
6-approx 125 yards , there will be lanes mowed for longer targets.
7-cant say for good but we will need to build more benches as we only have 2 right now on rimfire range.
8-120 seconds for 10 shots from specified positions.
9-we won't be shooting through the cutouts but there will be a position that may be a little taller and some lower but I can only think of one stage and that's taller and only 2 shots from it.
This first match will most likely have a little bigger steel than seasoned shooters are used to so the beginners don't get frustrated and have fun while getting their feet wet. We will most likely be heavy on beginners to start. There will only be a few shots past 200 at first match for sure.

Thanks for the answers. I'm looking forward to trying this. Now to develop 25 to 250 yds of dope.
I use ballistic ae app. All ya need to know is the speed in your barrel with your ammo and the zero conditions and it's pretty accurate. Now the wind is a different story

Yeah, I use a couple of them and I find them great for getting close, like if I have a 100 yd zero, what do I need to crank to get to 300? It will get me on paper, but it always needs fine tuning. During a match, you don't have much time to fine tune.

If you input your velocity (measured not what the box says) and input conditions (again measured with a kestrel) at the time you zero it will be spot on in my experience. The key is inputting correct data. Sight height plays a key as well. I find zeroing at 50 with a rimfire is a truer zero than at 100. Just my experience. Hope this helps

This first match will only go out to 220 just a FYI 8 Stages are set, 80 rounds needed for the match.

Let's see. This shouldn't be that hard. Match day, right? Shooting to the west, the wind will be 8 mph NW to NE to SE to SW, with 20 to 25 mph gusts and 34 degrees with moderate rain, 1 to 2" expected.

I'm waiting on a pic rail riser to come in before I can mount my scope. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow but I haven't got confirmation its even shipped yet. Grrrr.

You working with the Bergara Mark?

See? That group right there is why I want to tuck tail and stay home.

Yes, working on a Bergara, cannibalizing parts off 3 other guns to make it happen, but I'm not getting any groups like that. You should be very happy with that. If my gun shot that, I'd be done. SK?

Anyway, got my .22 mostly finalized last Friday (thank you UPS) and that sucker is heavy. I need a gun bearer to carry it around for me. Shooting groups has been problematic with the weather and gale force winds so I haven't done much work on groups. What I did do was at 50 yds and none of what I had was overly impressive.

Any chance we can get the COF? I'd like to practice the obstacles/ranges/sizes here at the house.

O don't worry , that was shot off a solid bench. When I hang off a barricade or tank trap my scope wobbles like meth head needing a fix🙄. That's a bone stock bergara shooting lapua ammo. I am working on the COF sizes this week, stay tuned.

I am gonna try to get out to the range and test every kind of ammo I have, I am definitely going to need a good practice ammo and practice lots of it as this style of shooting is going to be WAY harder than shooting off a bench.

I hate that im going to miss this weekend due to bowling in the state tournament. Ive been shopping for a target gun but I havent found one yet. Guy at bass pro tried dang hard to get me to take home a ruger percision but I dont care for the polymer guns. The gun I went to look at showed in stock online and when I got there had sold 2 hours prior. Im leaning towards the Begara BMR with the carbon barrel or the Tikka T1X. Have fun ya'll, this is the kind of shooting that I really like.

We have the Bergara b14 trainer and Bergara bmr both in stock at the pro shop FYI. On a side note I would stay away from carbon barrel they don't seem to shoot as well as the steel from what I have seen, just my experience.

I'll second staying away from the carbon barrel Bergara as well. They're well known for cold bore flyers, plus a couple more shots to come in, and even a mag change will put it back to cold bore shooting again.

I'm trying to find something that shoots in my gun. For the first time in several decades, I'm looking for upper tier Lapua. Are these out of stock issues like a rolling brownouts or is the current situation unusual?

Ammoseek is only showing three hits for Lapua in the search. Sounds like it is widespread.
