Thanks for the feedback guys. Im leaning towards the Tikka but its the only one I havent found to put my hands on and see how it feels. The next time I make it up to DZ Ill check out the ones in the shop.

It is the norm for Lapua .22 ammo. It will appear in stock and be gone within a couple of days, sometimes a couple of hours even. You have to watch for it, and as @nso123 said, check on ammoseek to find when it drops. It's not cheap either. 😣
 
Well here's a chuckle for you. I shot 5 different brands of ammo this morning at 50 yds. After I was done, I went back to my practice ammo (CCI SV) just to confirm my zero with 5 rounds. The first shot landed just on the paper a good 3-4 inches low. What the???? I looked at the box and I had picked up a box of Quiet 22. Well, I was on paper so I finished out the next 4 rounds. Here are the results: Avg vel 752, SD 3.9, and ES 11.5. 11.5!!! Tenex has been the best so far and its ES is 16 on the best day. Unfortunately, the group wasn't as great as the stats due to one flyer, but I'm going to shoot it a bit more.

I went to the range this morning hoping to get a few test groups before the wind kicked up. Didn't happen, windy right off the start. I have my match ammo picked out and tested but I am looking for something good of enough to practice with so I don't use up my match ammo.

Belk grocery usually has a Tikka or two in stock. To me they feel more like a youth gun til you get up to the upr line of them. Just my experience.

I'm going to use cci sv out to 100 or 125 for practice and I'll do most of my practice inside that range at targets big enough for me to hit.

I tried cci sv this evening at 250 with very little wind and a rock solid perch, I missed a 6" plate more than I hit it. My ballistic calculator only gives me a 17% probability of hitting inside a 6" circle at 250 with cci (mostly due to the extreme spread of 50 fps) ... and my hit ratio wasn't much better than that. CCI at that range is just an exercise in frustration. However, at 100 yds, the program gives me an 98 percent chance that the gun/ammo can make the shot on the same target. So my solution is to practice closer and save the top tier stuff for a match.

Few (none) of us can afford 40 to 50 cents/round for practice. That's getting very close to centerfire reloading cost, moving up the hill to the big range, and ringing steel at 1000.

Looks like most shots will be 125 and under due to two feet of water backed up stopping us from bush hogging lanes. This wet winter and a few beavers have flooded the range and it's not draining well. We did manage to get a couple of lanes cut that stretch on out upwards of 200 ish this morning but the norm will be 125 and in.
 
Skipper the longest stage goes out to 211.
Next longest is 145. The rest are 120 and under. I don't have it all out together yet but I know those two are longest.

Best practice is a match, you know that. I don't even have a scope on my gun right now.

2 moa should be smallest, a lil bigger on longer shots. Trying to make it forgiving for us new guys and the first match. It may be too easy this first one for experienced guys but it's a learning process for us new to this sport.
 
Match day MUP, don't be scared because it's not shot off a bench.
I will get beat bad today by the real prs guys because I'm a bench guy but it's gonna be fun.

I hate working on cars anymore. Well that 211 plate didn't get beat up much today, wind was coming around the trees out there doing something that we couldn't figure out.
