Not the PB i wanted

Fished till 4p today. Caught 30 or so trout, all short. Another 6 or 7 reds, all short except 2.

Did hang into this big nasty on my 2000 series reel and medium light trout rod. Took FOREVER to land him on that setup. Est 30lbs. I know they get way bigger, but I hardly ever catch black drum because I'm always using artificials.artificial.

All released today. Staying at an air bnb on the coast tonight for round 2 tomorrow. IF I can find some keeper trout, I'll take a few home.

I love taking my boy fishing and we are HOPING to hook into a drum cause of how they fight.

Round 2 today... caught 35 or so trout, but only 1 legal (15in). Had I crossed the line to Louisiana, I would have had a 25 fish limit.

Only 1 red, don't like to keep slots this big (26in), but I needed some fresh fish for tacos tomorrow and didnt have trout. Cool thing was I saw him crashing bait on the edge of the tiny bayou I was in, he swam past the boat 4 ft away, and I casted back to him 8 or 9 feet behind me and he ate immediately. Saw a couple more crashing bait on the banks, but couldn't get them to eat.

Overall a great weekend fishing, just wish I had a better ratio of throwbacks to keepers.

I dunno, i don't think they really fight hard. Just a slow steady drag pull with no big runs. Just wear them down and chase them with the trolling motor. I actually thought this fish was a big stingray. When I hung into this fellow, it was in the middle of a fish every cast trout bite.
