It's a godsend especially when surf fishing. I trying to go down 2-3 times a year so I think the investment was worth it. Especially with live bait and coolers to haul.
Wife said she will use it when she goes to the beach… I said sure, I'll use your cornbread skillet to rake sand fleas 😁

I use an Ugly Stik Tiger rod on the planks. I don't need great sensitivity as much as I need a rod that won't snap hoisting a fish. For Reds or Spanish I just use a surf rod. The extra length helps to stay off the pylons. For reels I like the Spinfisher bait runners. Get the liner and bucket holder for the cart. I also use the cart to haul luggage into the hotel on beach trips.
Just my 5cts worth (inflation).
